Filming

Filming has taken place at Mapledurham for many years, spanning a wide range of genres for both television and cinema. Our most iconic production is the 1976 film “The Eagle Has Landed,” but we have also recently featured in the new “Wonka” film and Sky Atlantic’s “Mary and George,” among others.

Until recently, the interior of the house was not available for filming. However, we are now happy to discuss individual projects that include the beautiful interior. Our estate offers a variety of buildings, some dating back nearly 400 years, including the last commercially working watermill on the River Thames. The estate’s land features diverse landscapes, from woodland to arable fields.

Logistics

Mapledurham is located less than an hour from London, just 9 miles from junction 11 of the M4, approximately 30 miles from the M40, and only 20 minutes from Reading. The grounds of the house and our country park provide the perfect base unit location for filming. These areas can easily accommodate unit lorries and production cars for several hundred crew members. Additionally, for security purposes, there are no public footpaths running through these areas.
